After a scorching hot, amazingly beautiful ceremony, everyone needed a rest in the shade. So we headed down from the ceremony location to the shade of the heritage farm building at Summerhill Pyramid Winery. We took this opportunity to capture some candids of the wedding party and some casual portraits of the radiant bride relaxing on an adirondack chair. It was the perfect setting to cool down, enjoy a drink, and capture the pure joy that the bride was radiating.

As you may have noticed going through our site we are big fans of black and white photography. This is where we both fell in love with photography, working in the darkroom developing our own black and white film and prints. While we shoot entirely in digital now-a-days, we are always drawn back to creating stunning black and white imagery.

One of the great draws to Kelowna and the Okanagan as a destination wedding location is the abundance of stunning wineries. If you love wine and are looking for great views, like the look of vineyards, and great food a winery might be the perfect fit (and they are always amazing for wedding photography of course!)

This shot was taken at Quails' Gate Winery where this couple was holding their reception. They had gotten married earlier in the day at a private residence on the water nearby the winery.

As we typically do we asked the couple to take a walk together and capture what happens. They choose the perfect spot to take a break with the light breaking through the row of vines.

As Kelowna wedding photographers we are truly lucky to be working in the beautiful Okanagan valley. There is a wide range of unique locations that allow us to capture weddings in a variety of environments. Like this wonderful pyramid located at Summerhill Pyramid Winery in Kelowna. This entire wedding and reception took place at Summerhill, which is great because of the varied locations Summerhill has available on the property.

For the end of the wedding party portraits we headed up to the pyramid to get this stunning shot. While it was super hot this day, the couple and wedding party were troopers and we got through it quickly.

This image also shows how we like to handle large group shots that are a bit more interesting than just a single line of people. We prefer to break them up into smaller groups and spread them out throughout our frame, and the pyramid frames them in quite nicely. After we were done we sent the wedding party away and moved the couple into the shade of the pyramid and continued on with the wedding couple portraits.

You would never guess that this beautiful natural location is in the middle of the city! The Kasugai Japanese Garden is located in the downtown core of Kelowna, BC. We love the peaceful tranquility of the lovely trees, the bubbling creek, and the pond (filled with Koi!).

 One of the techniques that we frequently use while documenting an event (weddings, engagement, sessions, & lifestyle sessions) is to take a step back and capturing the environment that the events are taking place in. We feel strongly that these images really tie the story together and provide an overall framework.

This couple wanted a mix of natural and urban backgrounds which made this location the perfect starting point as it allowed us to continue on to the Kelowna Library and then to Art Walk.

During this wedding in Kamloops we headed out to the family farm for the bridal party group shots & bride and groom portraits. They came up with the idea of using the old barn as a prop for a tug of war type battle between the men and women of the bridal party. The ominous clouds rolling in adds to the drama of this image, and the eternal fight that divides the wedding party to opposing sides of the aisle.

All in good fun, of course!
